During my reading I am surprised to find that many writers are still using words and phrasses made up by the Brady Bunch and others in the anti-gun crowd. these are words and phrases designed to cast a bad light on our shooting sports. The anti-gunners coined words and phrases such as "high capacity ammunition feeding devices" or "high capacity magazines", and "assault weapons".
For us to adopt these words and phrases lend credence and legitimacy to them.
There is no such thing as an "assault weapon" or "high capacity magazines".
In place of "high capacity" how about we use wide body or double stack. In place of "assault weapon" we should call them rifles or even semi-auto rifles or better yet, sporting rifles.
Further, when we see these words or phrases used in news articles we must write to the author and gently correct that usage explaning that these phrases are meant to be disparaging. For that reason we must stop using them ourselves. End of lesson.
